"A fascinating wat in a little village dating back to 1865. The murals are so interesting, in design, colour and the story they tell. Much work has been done over the years to preserve and restore the structure of the wat and its murals. It is a national ancient monument and one of Khon Kaen's hidden gems. The unique Buddha is beautiful. It is definitely worth a visit!"

"We came to visit this temple because of the special architecture here. There are many pictures on the wall that I have never seen anywhere in Thailand, I feels like it was there for a very long time.

However, we were not allowed to go inside the temple to visit and pray because we are women. That is the rule here. We completely respect, and just visited around the temple grounds. The weather was nice and cool, green yard, very impressive.

It's free to visit and plenty of parking place."

Architectural Blend: Isan Meets Vietnamese

Wat Chai Si Hoop Taem's ordination hall is a testament to an intriguing architectural fusion. Constructed in the early 20th century, it prominently displays the characteristic Isan architectural style, common in Northeastern Thailand. However, what sets it apart is the subtle yet discernible incorporation of Vietnamese design elements. This unique combination results in a structure that is both familiar in its regional context and distinctively novel.

The temple's design reflects a period of cultural exchange and adaptation. The Isan elements might include traditional rooflines and structural forms, while the Vietnamese influences could manifest in decorative motifs, window designs, or specific structural details.
