What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Maeklong Railway Market is a truly unique experience, offering the thrilling spectacle of a train passing through a bustling market. Visitors rave about the ingenuity of the vendors and the vibrant atmosphere. While some find the market itself small, the train's passage is universally praised as a must-see.
"Definitely a tourist trap, not worth the 2-hour trip from Bangkok.
The place has completely lost its original charm. What you’ll find is an overcrowded souvenir market and a few overpriced coffee shops.
Vendors start closing their stalls and removing the tents about 30 minutes before the train comes, and many of them even pull down the shutters. When the train passes — very slowly and honking constantly — tons of tourists line up on both sides to take photos and selfies, making the whole experience feel artificial and staged."

"One of the best places to buy Thai handmade products at super affordable prices, definitely cheaper than the floating markets or Bangkok! For example, coconuts that usually go for ฿80–100 in Bangkok were just ฿20 here
We were given about an hour to explore the market and managed to catch the train coming and going — around 11:10 am and 11:30 am.
Just a friendly reminder: please stand behind the red line when the train approaches — it gets really close! And don’t be that person who blocks others who’ve already “chope-d” their spot for photos or videos. Let everyone enjoy the moment too!"

"It's the famous train market 2 hrs away from bangkok.
Can book a cab for full day or book a grab to reach there. Good time to visit is morning.
Lots of shops but other than food don't buy anything as these are available in Bangkok also.
Have attached the pic of the train timing accordingly plan your visit."
