Reviews Summary

James Bond Island (Ko Tapu) is celebrated for its stunning, iconic scenery and cinematic fame, offering breathtaking views of limestone karsts rising from emerald waters. While the natural beauty is undeniable and photo opportunities abound, visitors should be prepared for significant crowds and the wear and tear associated with a highly popular tourist spot. Despite these drawbacks, the unique atmosphere and unforgettable vistas make it a worthwhile visit, especially when timed to avoid peak hours.

"James Bond Island is absolutely worth seeing, even if it comes with a few caveats. The scenery is stunning — the dramatic limestone formations rising out of the emerald water are every bit as iconic as you expect. The place has a unique energy, and once you catch the right angle, it’s instantly clear why this spot became famous worldwide.

That said, you have to be prepared for crowds. There are a lot of tourists, and at peak times it can feel a bit overwhelming. The island itself also shows signs of heavy use — wear and tear that reminds you just how popular the location is. It doesn’t ruin the experience, but it’s noticeable.

Still, the overall impression is fantastic. When the light hits the cliffs and the water turns that deep tropical green, the whole area becomes genuinely breathtaking. If you manage to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon, you’ll appreciate the beauty without the worst of the rush.

In the end, despite the crowds and the slightly worn condition of certain parts, James Bond Island remains a must-see. It’s iconic, photogenic, and unforgettable — fully deserving of five stars."

"An iconic and beautiful island to see that was made famous by the James Bond movie, “Man with the Golden Gun” that was filmed here in 1974.
It is easy to access via long boat, and there are some steps on the island to negotiate, but it was very easy to walk around to see the entire island.
There are restrooms on the island, and several vendors selling souvenirs and other items.
We spent about 45 minutes on the island with a guide, and were easily able to capture plenty of amazing photos.
It is a popular destination, so expect it to be crowded during peak season.
There is an entrance fee, so be prepared to pay that if you are not part of a guided group that will buy your tickets for you."

Mark Pitts

"The place is beautiful, but it’s not really suitable for swimming. The famous rock is nice, but it’s mostly popular because of the James Bond movie. Overall, the island is worth seeing, but in my opinion, the Phi Phi Islands trip is much better and more beautiful.

You can visit James Bond Island if you have some extra time — it’s a nice experience, but not a must-see."
