Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking panoramic views from Khao Daeng Viewpoint, calling the challenging hike well worth the effort. However, some caution that the steep, rocky trail requires good footwear and fitness, and recommend bringing water and mosquito repellent. "Beautiful location, loved it. However, there’s a man locked in a cage yelling something I can’t quite make out honestly, not sure what his deal is. I tried to set him free, but then dog started chasing me. I made it back to my bike and speed off. If you’re planning to help him, bring a partner. One will need to distract the dog while the other frees the... munk? I think? Also, there are monkeys roaming around, just in case you’re into that. Overall, a unique experience. Highly recommend."

"After a recent journey up to the Khao Deng viewpoint, I feel compelled to share my experience and some advice for fellow adventurers considering this trek. First and foremost, it's imperative to acknowledge that the climb is absolutely worth the effort. The panoramic views at the top are nothing short of breathtaking, offering a unique perspective on the surrounding natural beauty.
However, a few words of caution and preparation are in order. The path is dotted with sharp rocks, making the terrain somewhat challenging but certainly manageable with a bit of care. I strongly advise wearing proper shoes to navigate this rugged landscape safely. A small water bottle is also essential to stay hydrated without adding too much to your load.
It's important to consider physical fitness when planning this climb. For Asian elderly individuals over 50, the trek might present too many risks, given the demanding nature of the terrain. On the other hand, western adults who maintain a good fitness level may find this adventure within their grasp. Regardless of your background, assessing your physical condition and climbing capabilities is crucial before attempting the ascent.
One cannot stress enough the importance of bringing mosquito repellent. The area is teeming with mosquitoes, and protection against them is essential for a more enjoyable experience.
In summary, while the climb to Khao Deng viewpoint poses its challenges, the reward at the summit is undoubtedly worth it. Just remember to wear the right shoes, pack light, assess your fitness level realistically, and, importantly, don't forget your mosquito repellent. Happy climbing!""

"This was the highlight of our trip to Pranburi. We drove in the early morning from our hotel near the beach and arrived just after their opening hours. Even though it is only 45 mins to go back and forth the trail, It was much tougher than we thought 😅 since it was steep, slippery, and rocky... It felt quite adventurous for us and the view at the top was rewarding indeed. Do bring water, cuz you gonna need it. And be prepared to see some wild monkeys along the way.
The Red mountain (Khao Daeng) is one of the main attractions inside Samroiyod National Park. You pay the ticket of 200THB (40THB for Thais) at the view point entrance and can use within the day at the other attractions. Please note that each attraction such as the caves and beaches are not at walking distance there I would recommend to rent a car or bike"
