There is a fantastic tea selection, plus coffees and specialist drinks.
The food itself is superb and many thanks to a brilliantkitchen team for providing such a deliciousarray of tempting treats, the attached photos do not do it justice, but above the food is the service. You will find it a challenge to meet better staff in any hotel.
I hope the management realise how special a team are in place here.

"We celebrated a friend’s anniversary at the Authors’ Lounge in the Mandarin Oriental. The room was beautifully decorated, and there were many service staff around.
However, I was quite disappointed that both the soup and main course were served only warm, not hot — which is not acceptable for a five-star hotel. The soup bowl and main plate were almost cold. Service also felt a bit inattentive; plates were cleared while some guests were still eating, and I had to repeatedly ask for wine refills even though there were plenty of staff around. It seemed like many were chatting behind the service wall instead of attending to guests.
The food presentation was lovely, and I believe the kitchen did their best, but perhaps there was a delay or miscommunication with the service team. Overall, it was a memorable evening thanks to the occasion, but I truly believe the service team can perform much better to match the Mandarin Oriental standard."

"It's the third time I have an afternoon tea here and every experience is different. But what never changes is the incredible staff, who are so caring, friendly, smiling and Professional. The cakes were so good but we we'rent able to finish our set. The champagne was excellent and the tea amazing (we choose the mandarin oriental special blend).
And when I book, I wrote that it was a special celebrations for my mum and I. The staff had prepared a nice surprise for us and we were truly touched by such kindness. The flowers are always beautiful and we had the chance to hear an excellent guitarist while enjoying our afternoon tea. My only deception was that the special tea was sold out at the shop !
