What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Cultural Arts Centre's immersive cultural experiences, particularly the passionate instructors for drumming and dance lessons. The energetic performances and unique demonstrations of traditional instruments and tribal homes are consistently highlighted as unforgettable aspects of the visit. While the location within a university campus requires some navigation, the overall experience is highly recommended for its authenticity and engaging activities.
"A phenomenal music and dance school that holds performances and classes. I called ahead of time to ask about dance lessons, and they arranged a private drumming and dance class for just $15 per person at a time that worked for me. The instructor was phenomenal--he had so much passion for what he was teaching! He taught me a traditional song and dance from his tribe. I wish I could have come for a performance as well: the crew is clearly so talented!
When arriving, take note that the CAC is located inside Tumaini University. You sign in and pass through the university gate, then head to where the CAC is located on Google maps. You'll need to park and walk around a building on the left side through a small gate, then walk around the performing arts center; the dance studio is behind the performing arts center."

"This place was so impressive! We had a tour of all the buildings and learned about the history of this performance center, toured their one of a kind outdoor theater space, watched a detailed demonstration of all kinds o traditional instruments from the area including being able to try some, a drumming lesson where a charismatic teacher taught us a piece that sounded pretty good for us non-musicians if I do say so myself! Next we had a dance lesson and were able to perform this dance after just a half hour of patient teaching by an extraordinary dancer. There was also a chance to see three different types of homes used by tribes in the vicinity and learn a bit about each group. The best of all these memorable experiences was an over the top and energetic dance/drumming performance by about a dozen musicians and dancers. We were floored by all quality of the work these performances performed. The school has beautiful, accessible spaces for study, rehearsal and performance. They have a 6000 volume library too. Finally we enjoyed a delicious meal cooked by a chef in an all outdoor kitchen. It would be a shame to visit this area and not spend half a day here like we did. Unforgettable!"
