What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are consistently impressed by the monumental scale and historical significance of the Diyarbakır Walls, often calling them a must-see. The breathtaking views and intricate craftsmanship are frequently highlighted. Some travelers express a desire for more accessible museums and better utilization of the historic towers.
"I really enjoyed visiting the Diyarbakır Walls! Their size and historical significance are truly impressive, and walking along them gave me a deep appreciation for the city’s rich heritage. The views from the walls are breathtaking, and the detailed craftsmanship is incredible. Unfortunately, I couldn’t visit the nearby museum due to time constraints, which was a bit disappointing, as I’m sure it would have added even more context to this amazing site. Regardless, the walls alone are a must-see for anyone visiting Diyarbakır. I hope to return someday and explore the museum as well! Highly recommend this experience!"
Altanay Murad
"Impressive fortress that still forms the city borders. From the top of the towers opens a beautiful view, especially in May, late spring is the most amazing period for traveling to Diyarbakir I believe."
Gulnabat Baliyeva
"Walked around both sides (along with the inside and on top) of the whole wall, took a good few hours but we’ll worth it. A lot of restoration work going on all around it, which is amazing to see! I think in a few years time this city will become a lot more beautiful and become a much more well known place for tourists.
I think they should really do something with the towers though, maybe turn them into fancy AirB&B rooms or even little restaurants! Would be great to see them being used for something."
