What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the National Library of Turkey as a peaceful sanctuary with impressive architecture and valuable resources, including free refreshments. While some note initial staff interactions can be less than welcoming, the overall experience is highly regarded for its serene atmosphere and intellectual offerings, making it a unique spot for study and exploration.
"Okay, so hear me out, the National Library is lowkey a vibe. If you’re a book nerd, research girlie, or just need a break from chaotic campus life, this place is pure peace. It’s giving main character energy with its massive reading halls, quiet corners, and a whole archive of history that makes you feel smart just breathing in there.
The best part? It’s not just old dusty books but also digitised archives with millions of pages, so you can scroll like it’s TikTok but make it academic. Plus, they have audiobooks for visually impaired readers, which is actually so thoughtful and inclusive.
It’s super clean, not intimidating, and honestly, the people-watching potential is elite. You’ll find uni students deep in research mode, uncles reading newspapers like it’s 1999, and maybe even a soft boy writing poetry in the corner, iykyk.
Highly recommend grabbing çay, su, çorba from the free vending machines or dining halls inside and spending a few hours here if you’re ever in Ankara. Whether you’re doing actual studying or just want to feel like the intellectual heroine of your own indie movie, this is the spot. They also have exhibitions here from time to time for the artsy people!"

"It was one of my best experiences in Ankara city. There was a dining hall where anyone who wanted to drink tea or coffee could get it for free. There was a special room for Turkish books and books from other nations in different languages.
There was a safe on the lower floor, which was for Turkish students or international students living in Turkey. Soup and bread were also served at the appointed times for free also you can buy something like nuts and etc. There was silence and a special and very beautiful atmosphere in the main halls and side halls, which makes everyone wonderful feeling, that I have not seen the same in my country or in other parts of Turkey. Some halls were open twenty-four hours a day. Entry here is free for tourists with a passport. You can eat your cake and tea here for free at 12 pm and read your favorite book as long as you want. It was an amazing experience for me to be in such a complete archive and comprehensive library."
