Be prepared for entry fees, which can vary. While some sources mention a 70 TL entry fee, others note a 27 TL charge for cars or 9 TL per person for walk-ins. Private beach areas are more expensive for sunbeds and umbrellas, so consider bringing your own or utilizing the public beach.

#tatil...

Reviews Summary

Gunluklu Bay is praised for its beautiful, calm turquoise waters ideal for swimming, especially for families. Visitors appreciate the natural setting and the option of a public beach for picnics. However, concerns are raised about the high cost of private beach services, entry fees, and the inconvenience of distant facilities and non-pram-friendly paths.

"Car park entrance has now gone up to 70TL even if you are only being dropped off inside the gate or to the beach. The public beach is great for families and picnics. The private side of the beach is exactly the same, but obviously you pay for everything two fold. We have been there as recent as 2 weeks ago. The staff are great, a young lad helped me from the car with my twins prams.

The beach and walk ways are no good for prams at all. I tried to take one of my twins a walk through the forest to get her to sleep as the car park and way in and out of the car park was full of cars trying to get in and out of Günlüklü and was told by the cocoon beach staff that was helping guide cars in and out of the car park that it is forbidden to go into the forest now. So you can imagine how my 1.5 year old was having a melt down as she couldn't sleep. I have been using Günlüklü beach and what was then blue bay beach club, for 12 years, I have to say been able to use the forest and having a lot of shaded parts on both beaches previously was much better. Also, the toilets and showers are soo far away from the beach and sea itself. With 3 babies the age of 1.5 years old, having the toilet facilities and the changing rooms and toilets so far away is very inconvenient. Especially not having a shower to wash the salt water off the babies straight away.

My bill was 2,670TL. Which included the double bed with shade. Double bed with shade was 1,200TL. 1 turkish coffee, 1 orange juice, 1 margarita pizza (medium in size) one chicken pieces menu, 1 portion of chips 4 cola zero and 1 water. We stayed there for 2 hours, we left earlier than we normally would do as the toilets and facilities were to far away since the renovations and trying to enter and exit the car park can sometimes take up to 1 hr, when it is so busy. The day we went was busy, so I didn't want to sit in the car for an hr trying to leave the car park. All in all we had a good day, again I must stress how great the staff are at cocoon beach, especially the young lads near the car park welcoming you to cocoon beach and the restaurant staff. They also have life guards on the beach."

"Warmish sea and sandy beach, but don't except crystal clear sea because it's sandy. It is a sheltered coast so nearly no 🌊 which is good for small children swimming. Umbrella and sunbed is for 50₺ and the bungalow style pergolas on the grassy field at the back is 200₺. Good place to spend the day."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

Understanding the Beach Experience

Gunluklu Bay offers a beautiful natural setting with calm, turquoise waters, making it a pleasant spot for swimming and relaxation. The beach is sandy, and the water is described as warmish, with very little wave action due to its sheltered nature, which is a significant plus for families with young children. Reddit

However, visitors should be aware of the distinction between the public and private sections of the beach. While the public beach is more budget-friendly and suitable for picnics, the private areas offer amenities like sunbeds and umbrellas for a fee, which can be quite substantial. Some reviews suggest that the overall cost, including entry and services, can make it feel like a 'National Park' run by private interests, with charges at 'every corner'. Reddit

Accessibility can also be a concern. The walkways and forest paths are not well-suited for prams or strollers, and the toilet and shower facilities are located a considerable distance from the main beach. This can be inconvenient, especially for families with babies or those who need frequent access to facilities. Reddit

Dining and Costs at Gunluklu Bay

When it comes to dining at Gunluklu Bay, visitors have options ranging from casual picnics on the public beach to meals at waterfront restaurants like Mezkla Gocek. Instagram The cost of food and drinks can add up quickly, especially when combined with beach service fees. A sample bill for a short visit included a pizza, chicken dish, drinks, and paid sunbed rental, totaling over 2,000 TL. Reddit

It's important to budget accordingly, as the 'private' nature of some services means you'll be paying a premium for convenience. While the staff are generally praised for their helpfulness, the overall expense can be a point of contention for some visitors, leading to a feeling of being overcharged. Reddit

For those looking to save money, packing your own food and drinks for a picnic on the public beach is a highly recommended strategy. This allows you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings without incurring the higher costs associated with the private beach clubs and restaurants. Reddit

Navigating Access and Facilities

Getting to Gunluklu Bay is relatively straightforward, being about 20 minutes from Fethiye. However, the experience upon arrival can be mixed. There are car park entry fees, and during busy periods, entering and exiting the car park can lead to significant delays, sometimes taking up to an hour. Reddit

While the beach itself is a draw, the infrastructure for accessibility and convenience has received some criticism. The paths are not pram-friendly, and the placement of toilets and showers far from the beach area is a notable drawback for families with young children. Reddit

Furthermore, access to the shaded forest areas, which were previously a popular feature, may now be restricted. This limitation, combined with the potential for long waits in the car park and the distance to facilities, can impact the overall enjoyment of the visit, especially during peak times. Reddit
