What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Kunstmuseum Winterthur for its impressive collection of European modern art, including masters like Van Gogh and Monet, and its strong representation of contemporary Swiss artists. The calm atmosphere and friendly staff are frequently highlighted as positives, making for a serene and enjoyable experience. However, some reviews mention concerns about the building's maintenance and suggest the collection might be small compared to larger institutions, with a few finding it overpriced.
"The exhibition “Reflections from Stable Life” at Kunst Museum Winterthur is wonderful.
It brings together works by Niklaus Stoecklin, Liselotte Moser, and Louisa Gagliardi, showing the subtle balance between stillness and tension in everyday life.
The museum is calm, the presentation thoughtful, and the staff are very friendly.
Definitely worth a visit!"

"Nice building, sadly the collection is very poor, the rooms are poorly maintained and it looks like museum is in a need of love.
Humidity is disastrous, walls are covered in fungus, it is dangerous both for visitors with asthma and works of art. And after Kunsthaus Zurich I was ready to enjoy the smaller collection, I hoped to experience something like Somerset House in London. However, I was wondering where are all the great pieces of art? Was it worth the money? No, I believe it was seriously overpriced if you compare it to Zurich
Two stars go for people working as they were pretty welcoming."

The museum spans 19th to 21st-century art, with significant pieces from Impressionism, Cubism, Expressionism, and contemporary Swiss artists, offering a well-rounded journey through European modern art. Totally loved it."
