What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the breathtaking beauty of the Trift Glacier and the exhilarating experience of crossing the Trift Bridge. The historic Triftbahn cable car adds a unique charm. However, some find the staff less engaging, the hike's difficulty underestimated, and the on-site food and drinks overpriced.
"Reasonable price to shorten an already long hike. Nice views. 10minute journey, not sure why some reviews and web pages state 32mins. The hike from the top takes around 2hrs each way for someone who isn't a seasoned hiker"
Heather M
"Super cool team even they had a problem with the payment they handled well. It’s a small cable car and i recommend booking a time slot in advanced because just 8 pax can entering every 20 min. Hiking is also possible to the Trift bridge. Definitely a place to visit. Come again. After you get out a sharp hike for around 90 min to walk"

"The beauty and ruggedness of the place are without doubt worth 5 stars. The lack of customer engagement of the staff, lack of proper instruction on how tough the hike is and the fact that some may experience swelling of skin due to altitude. I subtracted 2 stars.
We were late, the cows were returning from the higher pastures and we missed our slot. The lady shrugged and the money was lost. There was no compensation not even a single ticket as a gesture of goodwill. The drinks at the cabin are a rip off, so be warned and bring a flask of tea or coffee and at least a 1.5 litres per person for the hike to the bridge. Bring food too. The hike isn't terribly tough for fit people but the altitude can cause swelling and discomfort. I noticed swelling of my lips when eating at the bridge.
The bridge is longer than I expected and there was a strong wind gusting when we walked across. This was in Mid September, so I was glad of the down jacket. Note: The cold acts to counteract the swelling due to the altitude. We walked all the way down, it took around 3.5 hours including food breaks. This was a very nice experience as the terrain is rugged and mostly unscathed.
We stopped at a restaurant on the right not so far from the car park. The food was reasonable priced and very tasty. The waitress was friendly. She apologised for charging us 5 Chf per litre of tap water. She said that they don't normally charge...
In conclusion, I would return for sure, maybe walk up and down. We were lucky with the weather, but you should check before booking. They definitely need to improve their friendliness and be more forgiving of people being late. We drove for over 2 hours to get there. There were quite a few people turning up without booking, so I am sure they sold some or all of our "late" tickets. Some of the trail needs a little thought to make the steps easy enough for people less than average height. This trail maintenance will prevent people from going off track and causing further erosion. Hopefully they will take onboard some of what I have said."
