While some note the walk from parking and potential for wind, the overall consensus is that it's a worthwhile and educational visit, offering a tangible connection to Sweden's past.
"Very cool place. We went in oktober, the guide at the turistcentre of Öland said we could go into the castle. You can walk around there but the information desk at Eketorp was not open anymore. It was fun to see this place."

"Very nice recreation of iron age/Viking fort. Be ready for a 200 m walk from the parking lot into the fort in likely 20 km/h wind. But it’s worth it. No need to go during regular hours as it’s easy to walk in and see everything.Had no cost."
Kirk Wilson
"We recently visited a beautifully reconstructed early and late Middle Ages castle, and it was a fantastic experience for both adults and kids! The castle has been thoughtfully rebuilt to provide a realistic impression of Swedish life during these historical periods. It features example buildings from each era, giving visitors a tangible sense of how people lived throughout the castle’s history.
For children, there are a variety of engaging activities that really bring the Middle Ages to life. Our kids had a blast baking bread in the traditional medieval style, playing several historically inspired games, and braiding bracelets from cotton thread. These hands-on experiences made the visit both educational and fun for the little ones.
The entrance fees are quite reasonable, with tickets priced at 10€ for adults and 7€ for children. Given the quality of the experience and the range of activities available, we found this to be well worth the cost.
Overall, this castle is a must-visit for anyone interested in history or looking for an enjoyable family outing. We highly recommend it!"
