"A truly divine experience 🙏
Sudh Mahadev is one of the most peaceful and spiritual places I’ve ever visited. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to be the place where Mahadev and Mata Parvati got married. You can feel the positive energy as soon as you enter.
The Shivling inside the temple is ancient and sacred, and there’s also Lord Shiva’s Trishul which adds to the spiritual vibe. Just nearby is the Pap Nashni Bowli, where devotees take a holy dip to wash away sins.
Surrounded by mountains and calm nature, it’s a perfect place for anyone seeking peace and connection with Mahadev. Highly recommended for all mahadev bhakts! 🕉️

"We visited the Sudh Mahadev temple near Patnitop in Udhampur during May 2024. This ancient and significant Hindu temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is believed to be around 2800 years old. Inside, there is a natural black stone Shiva Lingam, Lord Shiva's trident, and a mace said to belong to Bhima from the Mahabharata. The story says Lord Shiva killed a demon named Sudheet here with his trident. But seeing Sudheet's devotion, Shiva brought him back to life and named the place after him. The broken trident is still there. Near the temple is 'Pap Nashni Bowli', a spring believed to purify sins through bathing. We also experienced the small, narrow cave that devotees crawl through as a sacred ritual. The temple houses statues of Bhairav and other deities also. The perpetually burning holy fire and the Yagyashala were particularly interesting. The surrounding lush greenery and hills added to the captivating beauty.
While many pilgrims visit throughout the year, the Sudh Mahadev Mela in June or July attracts a large gathering. The temple had a truly special and holy ambiance, making it difficult to leave. We noted that parking isn't readily available nearby, and the temple doesn't appear to be wheelchair accessible. Shops near the temple sell religious items and Prasad for offerings. Overall, the Sudh Mahadev temple is a must-visit in Udhampur."
