Old Dutch Fort is a small Dutch fort which is situated in Tangalle. The coast of Tangalle was an important anchorage for the Dutch. The Tangalle Fort is made of limestone and coral. This defense fort is 12 m is height and still stands in good condition. The fort was converted into a prison by the British while also using it as an anchorage. It is still being used as a prison by the Department of Prisons.
