"I've been visiting Seetha Amman Temple since my childhood, and it has always held deep spiritual and cultural value — a sacred site in the heart of the Ramayana trail. However, my most recent visit was disappointing. The temple management has suddenly introduced a 100 LKR entry ticket only for foreigners. This is the first temple in Sri Lanka to start collecting such a fee, and it began right after a politician took charge as head of the temple. It’s disheartening to see a place of worship turn into a commercialized spot.
This temple was beautifully renovated with the support of the Indian Government and carried out Maha Kumbabishegam recently, but sadly, the current management is not maintaining it properly. The surroundings were not clean, things felt disorganized, and it gave the impression of just another money-focused temple rather than a spiritual sanctuary.
I’m making this comment boldly and openly to the management: Please respect the cultural and religious significance of this temple. Many foreign devotees visit as part of the Ramayana trail, and they deserve a welcoming, clean, and well-managed experience — not an exploitative one."
