What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Ravana Falls is widely praised for its breathtaking natural beauty and impressive water flow, especially during the rainy season. Its easy roadside accessibility makes it a convenient stop for most travelers. However, some visitors note that the busy road and potential for litter can detract from the serene atmosphere, leading some to seek out quieter, nearby waterfalls for a more peaceful experience.
"Ravana Falls is simply breathtaking! The water cascades down the rocky cliff in multiple tiers, surrounded by lush greenery. The sheer size of the falls and the force of the water during the rainy season is a sight you’ll never forget. It’s right by the roadside, so very easy to access, and the cool mist from the falls feels refreshing after a long drive.
✨ Secret Tip: Most tourists stop at the roadside view, but if you carefully take the small trail down (only when it’s safe and dry), you can reach a rock pool where locals sometimes dip their feet. From there, you’ll have a completely different perspective of the waterfall without the crowd. Also, early morning visits give you a golden view with sunlight hitting the water directly – perfect for photos!
Definitely worth a stop if you’re in Ella or traveling along the scenic route. 🌿💦"

"Can't be debated that from a natural perspective, this waterfall is absolutely stunning 🌿 Unfortunately though, it's just next to the roadside - which means it's accessible but the ambience is ruined by the busy road, lots of local vendors, pollution, rubbish and noise. I'm sure there are other walkways you can take to get around this. It should be free to access - be careful if being asked for money.
We went on to Pallewela Waterfall - far more difficult to access, further from the town, but a much nicer environment and well worth the extra trip for us."

"Breathtaking views stunning waterfall.
Was very busy, but once we found a safe place to park we got out and saw some cheeky monkeys and lots of little food stalls.
Was busy and people taking a paddle in the waters. A nice little break on our drive to our next hotel."
