This Saturday, I had the honour of attending my cousin’s wedding at the Sri Ponnambala Vaneswarar Temple Hall, one of the most spiritually and architecturally profound venues in Colombo.

Located within the historic Sri Ponnambalam Vanesar Kovil, this temple is not just a place of worship — it’s a living monument of faith, resilience, and South Indian granite craftsmanship.

Built in 1857 by Ponnambalam Mudaliyar, a patriot who also played a role in Sri Lanka’s fight for independence.
The only Hindu temple in Sri Lanka made entirely of natural granite stone, echoing both ancient tradition and timeless strength.
Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple radiates a divine calm and raw energy — you can feel it as soon as you enter.

The air-conditioned hall was spacious and well-ventilated, comfortably accommodating around 500 guests.
