Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Palacio de Larrinaga's stunning architectural beauty and its romantic historical origins. It's highly praised as an exceptional venue for weddings and events, with impeccable catering and service that make occasions truly memorable. While primarily an event space, its historical significance and restored grandeur offer a captivating experience for all who visit.

"This review is about the building's historical value, not its other uses. It is one of the finest examples of an early 20th-century bourgeois mansion in Spain, and perhaps in Europe. Completed in 1911 according to a design by the influential architect Félix Navarro, it was commissioned by the shipping owner Miguel Larrinaga as a retreat with his wife, Asunción Clavero (hence the name Villa Asunción, by which it is also known). Its dimensions and decoration are imposing, with part of the latter being the work of the sculptor Palao, whose own residence on Paseo de Sagasta is also a beautiful example of modernist architecture. The Larrinaga Palace makes extensive use of materials typical of the industrial bourgeoisie, such as glass and steel. After Asunción Clavero's death, the property was sold in the 1940s to the electrical company GIESA, which established the offices of its neighboring factory there, the structure of which can still be seen but which is unfortunately in serious danger of disappearing."

"The first thing I want to make clear is that I'm not a company; I'm an individual who only wants to comment on their visit to this place, their experiences, and what they thought.
I don't get anything, nor do I have any interest.
I'm explaining this because I've seen in some reviews that there is a financial interest or gratuitous criticism.
This isn't my case.
And with that out of the way, let me share what I thought of my visit to this place:

On Saturday, October 29th, I celebrated my wedding there, and I have to say it was the best venue we could have chosen.

The catering service was perfect.
The food service was spectacular.

But above all, it's a beautiful building, and the service provided by the people at El Cachirulo is spectacular.
A special mention to Israel, the Maitre d', and his entire team.

EVERYTHING WAS WONDERFUL."

"This palace, built for love at the beginning of the 20th century, is one of the most unknown jewels of Zaragoza. The architect Félix Navarro built this building inspired by neo-Renaissance elements. Since the early 90s it has belonged to Ibercaja, which was responsible for its restoration and added furniture from its private collection. After recovering its splendor, it is currently dedicated to celebrations, Fundación Ibercaja events and guided tours. On the ground floor are the dining rooms and lounges and on the upper floor are the private rooms."

Architectural Marvel: Félix Navarro's Vision

The Palacio de Larrinaga stands as a significant example of early 20th-century bourgeois mansion architecture in Spain. Designed by the influential architect Félix Navarro, the building, originally known as Villa Asunción, was commissioned by shipping magnate Miguel Larrinaga as a testament to his love for his wife, Asunción Clavero. Navarro masterfully incorporated neo-Renaissance elements, creating a structure that is both imposing and elegant. The palace's design also reflects the era's industrial advancements, with prominent use of materials like glass and steel, integrated seamlessly into the classical aesthetic. TikTok

Navarro's attention to detail is evident throughout the palace. From the exterior's decorative facades to the interior's grand salons and private rooms, the building exudes a sense of opulence and refined taste. The sculptor Palao also contributed to the palace's decorative scheme, adding further artistic value. This architectural approach not only served as a luxurious residence but also as a symbol of the Larrinaga family's status and success. Reddit

From Private Residence to Event Venue

After its time as a private residence, the Palacio de Larrinaga transitioned through various ownerships, including being acquired by the electrical company GIESA in the 1940s. However, its most significant transformation began in the early 1990s when it became part of the Ibercaja collection. Ibercaja undertook a comprehensive restoration project, meticulously bringing the palace back to its former glory and furnishing it with pieces from their private collection. This revitalization effort ensured the preservation of its historical and architectural integrity. Reddit

Today, the Palacio de Larrinaga is celebrated not only for its historical significance but also as a premier venue for celebrations and events. It hosts numerous weddings, private functions, and cultural events organized by Fundación Ibercaja. The palace's beautifully maintained dining rooms, lounges, and private quarters provide an unforgettable backdrop for any occasion, allowing guests to experience its grandeur firsthand. The exceptional service provided by catering companies like El Cachirulo further enhances the experience, making it a highly recommended venue for special gatherings. Reddit
