The Pont de Sant Pere was
built in the 17th century to connect the medieval town that grew up next to the Castle with the Iberian settlement of Egosa, which gave rise to the bishopric and town of Ègara, whose legacy is the monumental complex of the Visigothic-Romanesque churches of Sant Pere or Seu d'Ègara. Both population centers were separated by what is now Vallparadís Park, a deep stream that isolated the town of Sant Pere from the old royal roads used by trade and travelers.
