"Victoria Theatre
Former Corral de Comedias (Open-Air Theater)
The Victoria Theatre is one of the most emblematic buildings in the City of Ceramics.
It was built on the site of the old 17th-century corral de comedias (open-air theater), which was demolished in 1892.
On that land, Miguel Fernández Santamaría, a businessman from Talavera, built the theatre and named it after his daughter, Victoria, in 1912.
Later, the theatre was acquired by Félix Moro, who changed the name from Victoria to Mariana years later.
Its abandonment eventually led to its ruin until it was acquired by the Talavera City Council in 1991. After its restoration, it reopened in 1994, regaining the name Victoria Theatre, as we know it today.
The ceramic work of master ceramist Juan Ruiz de Luna can be seen on its façade.
The three-story façade, with its symmetrical design, is a meticulous blend of modernist architecture, featuring striking metal balconies, ironwork, and tilework.
Located at 14 Teatro Street, it's just a minute's walk from the Town Hall, Plaza del Pan, and the Palenque Theater, right in the heart of Talavera de la Reina's historic center.
If you visit Talavera, don't miss it—it's one of our gems."
