What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Metropol Parasol is widely praised for its unique modern architecture and stunning panoramic city views, especially at sunset. Visitors enjoy the novelty of the world's largest wooden structure and the vibrant atmosphere of the plaza below. While some find the rooftop experience a bit underwhelming for the price, most agree it's a memorable and worthwhile Seville landmark.
"The Setas de Sevilla is a really cool and unique landmark. It's this huge, modern wooden structure right in the middle of a historic square, and I loved the contrast. It's a great place to just hang out below, grab a drink, and people-watch.
The best part, though, is going up to the top. The walkway is so fun to wander around, and you get some of the most amazing panoramic views of the city. Seeing all the rooftops and landmarks from a different perspective is a great experience. I went just before sunset, and the golden light over Seville was absolutely magical. It's a great spot for photos and a nice way to end the day."

"We didn’t go up to the top, but the view from below was already impressive. The structure itself was beautiful, and it’s generally recommended to visit at sunset for an even more stunning view. At the lower part, there are benches where you can sit and enjoy the scenery, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a pleasant spot to admire the architecture and surroundings."

The Architecture of Metropol Parasol
The design features six large mushroom-shaped canopies interconnected by a network of walkways. These walkways, elevated 26 meters above the ground, offer a unique perspective of the city. The structure's intricate lattice of wooden beams allows sunlight to filter through, creating a dappled, almost ethereal light effect on the plaza below, reminiscent of natural forest canopies. This innovative use of wood and its organic form make it a standout piece of contemporary architecture in Seville.
Experiencing the Views and Atmosphere
Beyond the views, the atmosphere at Las Setas is a significant part of its appeal. The plaza beneath the structure is a lively public space where locals and tourists mingle. It's a popular spot for people-watching, enjoying a drink from a nearby cafe, or simply relaxing and taking in the unique surroundings. The contrast between the modern Setas and the historic Plaza de la Encarnación creates a dynamic and engaging urban environment. Many visitors appreciate the option to visit twice, once during the day and again at night to see the structure illuminated.
The Antiquarium: A Glimpse into Seville's Past
Visiting the Antiquarium offers a unique juxtaposition: exploring ancient ruins directly beneath a cutting-edge modern architectural marvel. It's a reminder that Seville is a city where history and modernity coexist seamlessly. The museum is not as large as some of Seville's other historical sites, but its location and the context of its discovery make it a compelling addition to a visit to Las Setas, offering a deeper understanding of the area's historical significance.
