It was constructed to defend the coastal town from pirate raids and Berber corsairs that frequently attacked the Spanish Mediterranean coast. Its robust architecture, including thick walls and defensive towers, speaks to its military purpose. The castle has been a silent witness to centuries of Santa Pola's development from a humble fishing village to a popular tourist destination. InstagramReddit

Today, the castle is not just a relic of the past but a vibrant cultural hub. Its courtyards and interiors frequently host local festivals, markets, and cultural events, bringing history to life for residents and visitors alike.
