"The Church of San Salvador is one of those built in the city of Sagunto after the Christian conquest, which must have taken place before the conquest of Valencia (1238). Since then, it has served as the parish church of the suburb outside the city walls—Raval de Baix—that stood on the road to Valencia.
The building is basically the one erected at that time, in the late Romanesque, or already Gothic, style often referred to as "conquest" in the Kingdom of Valencia, referring to the churches built in the mid-13th century, shortly after the Christians entered the towns.
