Reviews Summary

Pontevedra is praised for its charming, pedestrian-friendly historic center and pleasant atmosphere. Visitors appreciate the ease of exploration and the beauty of its architecture. Some minor concerns have been raised regarding the efficiency of certain local services.

"Today is stage 5 of the Portuguese Camino de Santiago. Tomorrow begins the spiritual variant, heading to Armenteira. The stage was definitely challenging but not impossible, all up and down with moderate gradients. I left Redondela at 6 a.m. with the moon still illuminating my first steps, and almost immediately I was enveloped in landscapes of trees, silence, and my own shadow. Unlike the other stages, this one was more immersed in greenery, and just before reaching Arcade, if the weather is clear, you can enjoy a spectacular view. The trail is a mix of dirt and rocks, and along the way you'll find some quaint refreshment points where you can rest your legs. To enter Pontevedra, I recommend taking the path that passes along the river because it avoids the sun and concrete. ☺️"

"Today, September 25th, I was watching the tow truck operator on Alvarez Limeses Street take pictures of a car parked in a yellow zone (I assume it had exceeded the permitted time). The entire time he was there, it was the only car parked, so there was plenty of room for other vehicles. At no point did the local police appear to issue a fine or take any other action they deemed necessary.
Afterwards, the tow truck operator took pictures of the damage to the bodywork.
My question is... Can a tow truck operator towing a vehicle violate the LOPD (Spanish Data Protection Act)? Is this the normal course of action in Pontevedra, whose City Council prides itself on transparency?
I'd say that the normal course of action would be for the driver to be fined if the car exceeded the permitted time, but by a law enforcement officer who has verified the violation.
Anyway..."

"In 1875, the idea of building a new headquarters for the municipality's council was born, located on the land occupied by the Bastida Grande, near the Puerta de San Domingo. In 1876, it was decided to demolish the old building and the municipal council approved the plans presented by the architect Alejandro Rodríguez-Sesmero, who was inspired by a Parisian hotel of the private architecture of the Second Empire, introducing alterations such as the large town hall balcony, the city coat of arms, on the lintel of the windows and on the national shield, and the clock."
