TMOS

"Marivent Palace is the summer residence of the Spanish royal family on the island of Mallorca. The estate was built between 1923 and 1925 to house the painter Juan de Saridakis, who lived there until his death. In 1966, his widow donated the building and its grounds to the Provincial Council of the Balearic Islands on the condition that a museum bearing the painter's name be created and remain open to the public. These conditions were met until 1973, but at that time, the Provincial Council ceded the estate to the then Prince and Princess of Spain, prompting the painter's descendants to file a complaint in court. The Supreme Court ruled that the disputed assets, consisting of approximately 1,300 works of art, a library of approximately 2,000 volumes, and around 100 pieces of furniture in various styles, should be returned to Saridakis's heir, without affecting the royal family's enjoyment of the palace. Also within the complex is the Son Vent residence, which had been used by Don Felipe and Doña Letizia when they were still Prince and Princess of Asturias."
