📌 Santo Estevo de Ribas de Sil The monastery of Santo Estevo de Ribas de Sil is one of the most prominent and spectacular of the rich monumental heritage of Galicia. It was built between the 12th and 18th centuries. Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the magical and tranquil atmosphere of Santo Estevo Monastery, particularly its stunning Baroque facade, Renaissance art, and peaceful cloisters, especially at night. The scenic drives and valley views are also highly praised, making it an ideal romantic getaway or a place to disconnect. Some minor critiques mention the breakfast and cafeteria offerings not quite meeting luxury hotel standards.

"Wow wow wow!
I was brought here for a romantic night away by my husband and it didn't fail to impress!
The building is simply magical with beautiful spots all over to sit and enjoy the views over the ribeira sacra. Equally, the fact that at night you can wander around and sit in peace in the cloisters is simply amazing.
We paid a supplement for the spa and we were so glad we did, the facilities are excellent and it's very quiet so can be enjoyed in peace and quiet. If you want a treatment I would recommend booking ahead of your stay as apparently the appointments fill up quickly.

The only slight downside is the breakfast and cafeteria offering which wasn't quite up to what I would expect from a luxury establishment, although it was still fine!

We booked a superior room with a view over the valley, definitely worth paying that premium, being able to sit on the stone window bench looking at the view was simply priceless."

"This monastery is the biggest and most important one (of a total of 100 in the Ribeira Sacra area). It is now a Parador, which means no tickets necessary for the visit! You can park about 600 meters away and either take the free minibus that leaves you in front or you can walk it (downhill). We walked and took some great pictures of the monastery from above. You can take the minibus back to your car though, unless you prefer to trudge uphill. The inside has two cloisters and some information panels in Spanish and English along the way so you don't miss anything. If you walk through the cafeteria out the back door there is a trail that you can take and see a couple of interesting things, such as a Celtic Castro from 2BC. We also had a coffee in the cafeteria, so our visit took almost 2 hours in total! I highly recommend this monastery, it's also about 10 minutes away from the Catamaran rides (Embarcadero San Estevo), so you can plan to do two things in the same area!"
