Reviews Summary

Morro Jable Market offers a lively shopping experience with a wide array of goods, including unique handmade jewelry and local crafts. However, some visitors find the market to be heavily stocked with mass-produced items and fakes, with persistent sellers and a compact layout. Haggling is expected, and while deals can be found, it's wise to be discerning about quality and pricing. Reddit

"Pretty disappointing trip.
The market is obviously full of fakes, naturally but there’s an influx of Chinese items from AliExpress and Wish (for example) sold at a marked up price.

I would appreciate seeing more bootleg T-shirts or custom made items but the majority was cheaply made rubbish you can buy in the internet.

Mind you, I don’t want to paint every seller with the same brush as there were a lot of custom made jewellery as well.

In summery the amount of cheaply made items and hounding from sellers as well as the expectation to barter makes it an unpleasant experience with little diversity."

Liam Sherwood

"Same as any other market but had to down score it as sellers were very pushy. It's very compact, could be spaced out better. The massage in the middle of the market was ace. Person selling metal sculptures, very nice 👍 thanks. But lots of fake clothes and stuff. €5 euro for men's t-shirt and €5 for hats. Stay away from sunglasses over priced not very good."

Time Out

"Small market with interesting products. Once you’ve walked through one row of stalls, you’ve practically seen them all. Some uniquer stuff here and there but most is “handmade!” while the stall 10 metres away has the exact same. Doesn’t mean there’s nothing nice though. Don’t forget to haggle."

Tips for Smart Shopping at Morro Jable Market

When visiting the Morro Jable Market, it's wise to approach your shopping with a strategy. Firstly, arrive early to avoid the biggest crowds and have the best selection. The market runs from 9 AM to 2 PM on Thursdays, and the earlier you go, the more relaxed the atmosphere and the better your chances of snagging unique items before they sell out. Instagram

Secondly, be a savvy negotiator. While some items are priced firmly, many vendors expect you to haggle. Start with a lower offer than you're willing to pay and work your way up. Remember that the goal is a mutually agreeable price. InstagramReddit However, don't be overly aggressive, as this can be off-putting. For items like sunglasses, some reviews suggest they might be overpriced and of lower quality, so exercise caution. Reddit

Finally, know what you're looking for and be discerning. While the market is a treasure trove of potential finds, not everything is a bargain. Look for genuine handmade items, unique crafts, and local specialties. If an item seems too good to be true or looks identical to something you've seen online for less, it might be. Reddit Enjoy the experience, but shop smart!
