What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Playa de Tiritaña is lauded as a stunning, remote beach perfect for those seeking tranquility and a naturist-friendly environment. While the challenging access deters crowds, it requires sturdy footwear and a good level of fitness. A significant downside noted by visitors is the presence of trash, emphasizing the need for responsible waste disposal.
"Absolutely my favorite beach on Gran Canaria if you are looking for a remote and isolated place, especially for nudists. Compared to adjacent Playa Medio Almud, here almost everybody was nude. Parking on the road is sufficient, but getting down to the beach is challenging enough to reduce random guests. 10-15 minutes climb each direction. Sandy beach, low waves - brilliant for both sunbathing and swimming! Recommended to come in the morning, as more people appeared starting from noon."

"Cute little beach, off the beaten track. The way down is a bit of a hike (as is the way up again, obviously), so don’t put your flip flops on too early. Wouldn’t recommend for children. Big downside: the rocky side of the beach is full of trash, likely the remains of a an illegal campsite (old sleeping bags, plastic bottles, and even an abandoned tent - you get the idea)."

"Park in the lay-by, - and park considerately.
A tricky descent, - easy for mountain goats.
Travel light, wear trainers.
Worth the climb though. Lovely little beach.
High tide will make it a very little beach!
Please take your garbage home with you, leave nothing but footprints.."

Navigating the Terrain: The Tiritaña Hike
This challenging access acts as a natural filter, deterring casual visitors and preserving the beach's secluded and tranquil atmosphere. The effort required to reach Tiritaña is often cited as a key reason for its pristine condition and the sense of reward upon arrival. Planning for the climb back up is crucial; ensure you have enough energy and water.
For those seeking a unique arrival, kayaking from nearby Mogán offers an alternative perspective. This method bypasses the land-based hike and allows you to approach the beach directly from the sea, adding an adventurous element to your visit.
The Naturist Experience at Tiritaña
Travelers often note that compared to adjacent beaches, Tiritaña has a higher concentration of nude visitors. The remote location and the effort required to access the beach naturally attract those seeking a more private and uninhibited experience. The beach itself offers a pleasant environment for both sunbathing on its sandy shores and swimming in its generally low-wave waters.
Respect is key in any shared space, and this is particularly true at Tiritaña. While naturism is common, it's always courteous to be mindful of others' personal space and comfort levels. The general sentiment is one of mutual respect and enjoyment of the natural surroundings.
Environmental Responsibility: Keeping Tiritaña Clean
Travelers strongly emphasize the principle of 'Leave No Trace.' This means packing out everything you bring in, including all garbage. The lack of facilities on the beach makes this practice even more critical. By taking responsibility for your waste, you help preserve the beach for future visitors and protect the delicate coastal ecosystem.
Efforts to keep Tiritaña clean are a community responsibility. Visitors are encouraged to be vigilant and to consider picking up any litter they find, even if it's not their own. This collective effort ensures that this beautiful, remote beach remains a natural paradise.
