The thought-provoking installations by Wolf Vostell and the Fluxus movement, set within a former wool factory and the dramatic Los Barruecos landscape, create an unforgettable experience. While the art can be challenging, its impact and the beauty of the location are widely appreciated.
"In the most unlikely of places, in the middle of a natural park in the beautiful plains of the Extremadura region, with an intensity of enormous boulders, 20km outside Caceres, in the impressive industrial warehouses of a former wool factory, you fine the museum of the German artist Wolf Vostell, the pioneer of video art installations, Happenings and the Fluxus Movement.
His impressive exhibit of personal art collection is combined with an even larger show of 250 artworks by Fluxus artists, incl. Yoko Ono and Eric Andersen."
Jesper Carvalho Andersen
"I like art that makes a statement and has a sense of humour and there is plenty of this here. The surroundings in the Los Barrueros Natural Monument are beautiful. The history of the building as a wool washing complex is also interesting but it is the art works you will remember. The installations were created in the 1980s and 1990s and take cars, TVs and concrete and consider how these everyday items were taking over our lives. What would Wolf Vostell think of computers and phones today?"
Carol Kubicki
"Loved that museum. The contemporary art collection made me reflect about some issues of the human condition. That big pieces and the natural ambience makes a particular environment for that art. Also, the Barruecos natural sight is a great place to spend some time walking betweet the rocks in peace. Recommended visit."
