Reviews Summary

La Taberna Antonio Sánchez is celebrated as Madrid's oldest tavern, offering a deeply authentic historical experience and delicious, traditional Spanish cuisine. Visitors praise the unique ambiance, the quality of classic dishes like 'rabo de toro,' and the extensive wine selection. While generally highly rated, some note that bread is an additional charge.

"What an amazing place! Great Spanish classics and every friendly staff that is hard to find.

Here comes the million dollar question:
Will I come back here again? 100% yes"

"Love this! Go here if you want delicious, well priced food that locals eat!
We've been to Spain a few times and a local acquaintance recommended this. We went twice during our stay, not something we usually do! The food was absolutely delicious with generous portions and high quality ingredients. They also have an extensive list of wines by the glass, which was a great surprise. The waiters were exceptionally helpful with recommendations and explaining dishes we weren't familiar with. The menu is a great mix of classics and newer dishes (the grilled avocados were unexpectedly amazing!) and the tavern has been around since the 1700's carrying the official plaque outside the door in the sidewalk. I'm not sure how this could ever get less than 5 stars!"

"Very cozy place and perfect local food - the style like tavernas but dishes looks and taste like in restaurants. Be careful with offering you a bread-one slice will cost you 3 eur (the waiter didin’t inform about it)."
