What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Celtiberian Pond as a fascinating and essential part of any visit to Laguardia. The guided tours are highlighted as comprehensive and engaging, with guides often commended for their knowledge and English proficiency. The historical significance and the story of its discovery are major draws, though the limited access and reliance on tours are noted.
"This should be an essential part of any visit to Laguardia ... discovered only in 1998, this is a man-made reservoir constructed 2100 years ago, the largest construction of its type and period in Europe and remarkably complete. It’s absolutely fascinating. Previously open only irregularly, it now has regular (and, I’m assured, reliable!) opening times ... check the tourist office for details. Unfortunately the “interpretation centre” material is only in Spanish, but the excellent guide speaks good English and is extremely helpful.
Note that the “pond” is entirely enclosed within new building work and is invisible unless you take one of the scheduled tours."

"Recently discovered during construction, this is the largest known pond in Europe. It can only be seen on a guided tour, which is very comprehensive, as it offers a glimpse into the entire history of Laguardia."

"A mandatory guided tour, only one pass per day, is very interesting. Tickets must be purchased in advance (€5 per person). I recommend calling to reserve a ticket. An interesting visit in a stunning setting."
