What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
La Pineda Beach is a long, clean stretch of golden sand with a gentle slope into the sea, making it ideal for families. However, visitors note high prices for sunbeds, persistent vendors, and occasional cleanliness issues around rental areas. Construction noise has also been a past issue.
"Overall, the beach was average, and unfortunately, in 2025 during our stay, it was under construction. Instead of relaxing by the sea, we had the constant background noise of excavators and diggers, which really ruined the atmosphere.
The beach itself was clean in general, but the area around the sunbeds was a different story. It looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time – full of garbage and cigarette butts, even though smoking on the beach is officially forbidden.
The sunbeds were another disappointment. At €30 per day for two beds and an umbrella, the price was outrageous – especially considering the condition. In Mallorca, I paid €12.50 for the exact same setup, and it was much better quality. Here, the beds were old and uncomfortable, and the “tables” that came with them were basically useless. I spilled my coffee one day and my beer the next because they were so unstable. Paying €30 for that is honestly a joke.
On top of that, the constant harassment from ambulant sellers made it nearly impossible to relax. They were selling everything from towels and sunglasses to perfumes, massages, and hair braids. They were extremely pushy, and you had to refuse them multiple times before they left – only for them to come back again an hour later. I’d say I had to turn them down at least 15 times a day, every day. And if that wasn’t enough, they continued in the evenings on the nearby streets, doing the same routine all over again.
All in all, between the construction noise, the overpriced and uncomfortable sunbeds, the lack of cleanliness around the beds, and the relentless sellers, this beach was not the relaxing experience we were hoping for."

"It's a great yarn with a slow descent to the depths. It is very clean, there are showers and many cafes. When the weather is windy, you can surf. The beach is very long and there are always a lot of people there."

"A good beach which was clean and with very fine sand. You have to walk quite a way into the water to go in deep so this is great for children. Lifeguards and a beach PA system was in use."

La Pineda vs. Salou: Choosing Your Beach Base
Salou, on the other hand, is known for its vibrant nightlife, numerous entertainment options, and a more energetic beach scene. If you're looking for a lively holiday with plenty of activities and a younger crowd, Salou might be your preference. However, some travelers have noted concerns about Salou hotels being used for asylum seeker processing, which might influence their choice.
For those seeking a balance, La Pineda offers a good variety of amenities without the intense crowds and noise of Salou, making it a great choice for a more peaceful beach vacation.
Navigating the Beach Experience: Comfort and Commerce
Compounding this, visitors frequently mention the persistent presence of ambulant sellers offering a wide array of goods, from towels to massages. While generally polite, their frequency can be disruptive, with some visitors reporting having to refuse them numerous times a day. This constant interaction, combined with the cost and condition of rental equipment, can detract from a purely relaxing experience. Travelers suggest bringing your own beach towels or mats to mitigate discomfort and cost.
Despite these challenges, the beach offers essential facilities like toilets, showers, and nearby cafes and bars along the promenade. The key is to be prepared for these aspects, perhaps by arriving early to secure a good spot, bringing your own essentials, and maintaining a firm but polite stance with vendors to maximize enjoyment of the beautiful, long stretch of sand.
Beyond the Beach: La Pineda's Seasonal Charm
Even in winter, the beach can be a pleasant place for a stroll. TikTok videos show people enjoying a 'day of winter' in La Pineda, highlighting its year-round appeal for relaxation and scenic walks, even if swimming isn't on the agenda. The presence of parks along the beachfront also adds to its appeal as a destination for leisurely exploration beyond the summer season.
