What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Eureka! Zientzia Museoa for its highly interactive and educational exhibits, making it a fantastic destination for families. The affordable pricing and multilingual explanations are also significant draws. However, some concerns have been raised regarding the size of animal enclosures.
"The children's science museum in San Sebastián has quick accessibility from anywhere in the area via a bus ride. This convenience makes it an easy and convenient option for families looking for a fun and educational activity.
It’s not just convenient and indoors it’s loads of fun , making it a great choice for a rainy day activity. The diverse range of exhibits caters to children of all ages, providing an engaging and interactive experience.
The museum is well-priced for the amount of exhibits and activities available. This makes it a cost-effective option for families looking to explore and learn together. There is a small cafe attached but I would not use up caloric space there and save it for one of San Sebastian’s culinary palaces of flavor.
All exhibits at the museum have explanations in English, French, Spanish, and Basque. This inclusive approach ensures that visitors from various linguistic backgrounds can fully enjoy and understand the educational content on display.
It’s a great change from what else you have been doing here and definitely worth checking out if you have the time."

"I really liked a lot of the exhibits, fun and educational. Kids loved the VR section too. However, -1 stars for using pictures of Arizona as the backdrop for the Australian lizard exhibit."

"If you are an animal-friend, just do not support the museum. The aligator and turtoises live in such small cages, it is quite heartbreaking to see. Also quite hypocritical, the museum has a quote on the wall. “To care you have to understand” and when you walk a bit further you see animal cruelty. The animals even look kind of dead, we stayed a long and saw them move, they do not look happy.
Please do not give them your money or your time."

Exploring the Interactive Exhibits
Many exhibits are designed with multilingual explanations, featuring text in English, French, Spanish, and Basque, making the museum accessible to a broad international audience. This inclusivity ensures that everyone can understand and appreciate the scientific concepts being presented. The museum also incorporates modern technology, such as VR sections and simulators, to offer even more immersive learning experiences.
While the exhibits are generally praised for their educational value and fun factor, some visitors have noted minor issues, such as the use of incorrect backdrops for certain animal exhibits. However, the overwhelming sentiment is that the interactive elements are the museum's strongest asset, providing hours of stimulating entertainment and learning.
The Planetarium Experience
It's important to note that while English shows are available, their frequency might be limited. It's highly recommended to check the planetarium schedule upon arrival to ensure you can catch a show in your preferred language. The shows are generally well-suited for younger audiences, with one reviewer mentioning an English show being better for a 6-year-old than teenagers.
Attending a planetarium show is often included in the general admission price, making it a great value addition to your visit. The experience complements the museum's other scientific exhibits by offering a different perspective on the universe.
Animalia Section: A Mixed Reception
However, this section has received some criticism. A few visitors have expressed concern over the size of the enclosures for animals like alligators and tortoises, finding them to be too small and potentially detrimental to the animals' well-being. This has led to some ethical considerations for visitors who are passionate about animal welfare.
Despite these concerns, the animals are generally observable, and the museum's quote, 'To care you have to understand,' highlights an intention towards education. Visitors are encouraged to form their own opinions while being mindful of the welfare concerns raised by some.
