Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about El Hondo Natural Park as a prime destination for birdwatching, especially in winter for rare birds of prey. The park's well-maintained, accessible trails make it enjoyable for families and walkers alike. While some areas have specific access times, the overall experience is peaceful and rewarding for nature lovers.

"If you are interested in birds, this is the place for you. The North Gate area is especially good in the winter, when rare birds of prey overwinter here. You have to be here at 8:30am and you cannot leave until 11:30am. This is the best place to see the small wintering population of extremely rare greater spotted eagles, and large numbers of marsh harriers, booted eagle, perhaps an odd osprey or two, and there is even a chance to see eagle owls here, as a pair lives nearby. Be warned, however, that almost all eagle views involve very distant views, or a flushed bird quickly flying out of sight, although sometimes they can be seen more closely"

Gleb Berloff
