@realone__travel #catalunya #barcelona #cava #cavawine #winery #winerylovers #codorniu #traveljuju #travelgram #travelvlog #traveltospain #s...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking architecture and the fascinating, extensive underground cellars, often highlighting the engaging storytelling of the guides. The cava tasting is a popular conclusion to the tour. However, some guests have noted areas for improvement in customer experience, particularly regarding multilingual communication and in-store promotions.

"Oldest winery in Spain apparently. Some beautiful buildings on site, very educational tour of the bodega with a guide. Little electric train journey around the massive cellars to boot.
The cata was very interesting and we tried 3 different cavas and heard about how they're produced and which foods they pair with.
Great, modern food in the on-site restaurant where some cava was included, but wine was an extra purchase.
Luckily it was a pre-Christmas company jolly, so I have no idea about prices for what we did, but I reckon a tour without lunch is another option..."

Mark Jordan

"Amazing experience! I strongly recommend the tour and cava tasting. The explanation was engaging, and discovering the history of the location was intriguing. The architecture, combined with all the cava bottles, adds to the charm. There's also a restaurant on-site; if you want to dine with excellent views, I suggest making a reservation in advance so you can enjoy it with the cava tour."

Mayra Rodríguez

"Since it is a big company, I was expecting a cold, fabricated visit but I was wrong. I am sure the guides are following a script but Paul was such a good story teller, we were all mesmerized.
The grounds and the buildings are breathtaking. The cellars are unbelievable. The tasting was fun and informative.
We have been to several wineries in many countries and this absolutely deserves a place in top 3."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The History of Cava and Codorníu

Codorníu is not just a winery; it's a cornerstone of cava history. Founded in 1551, the Raventós family has been cultivating vineyards for over 450 years, making them the oldest family-run business in Spain. It was Josep Raventós in 1872 who first produced cava using the traditional method, a technique still employed today. This innovation laid the foundation for what is now a globally recognized sparkling wine. Instagram+1

The Caves Codorníu themselves are a testament to this rich heritage. The underground cellars, stretching over 30 kilometers, are where the magic happens. Here, cava undergoes its second fermentation and aging process, developing its characteristic bubbles and complex flavors. The sheer scale and historical significance of these subterranean spaces are truly awe-inspiring. TikTok

Visiting Codorníu offers a deep dive into this fascinating history. You'll learn about the traditional method of cava production, the specific grape varietals used, and the evolution of this beloved Spanish sparkling wine. It's an experience that connects you directly to centuries of winemaking tradition. Reddit

Completed in 1906, it features intricate details, stained glass, and ceramic elements that reflect the artistic flair of the era. Instagram

This architectural gem is not just for show; it's a functional winery that harmoniously blends art with industry. Walking through its halls feels like stepping back in time, offering a glimpse into the grandeur of early 20th-century Catalan design. The building itself is a designated Historical Monument of National Interest. Instagram
