It can only be visited via the Caliph's Gate. From this bastion, there are impressive views of the city. Built during the Renaissance period by the Portuguese architect Miguel Arruda, between 1541 and 1549, it is shaped like an arrowhead. Together with the Royal Moat, the Royal Wall, and the Coraza Alta Bastion, it forms the first defensive line of the monumental complex of the Royal Walls.
