Reviews Summary

Visitors acknowledge the San Ginés de la Jara Monastery as a place with significant historical value and immense potential for restoration. While currently largely inaccessible and in ruins, there's a strong community desire to see it revitalized into a functional heritage site and tourist attraction.

"Lovely place but no access"

Ariane Seghers

"At the rear of the church's interior, on the left looking toward the altar, I remember, more than 20 years ago, when the building was already in ruins, a gilded Baroque altarpiece, I think with Solomonic columns. Shortly after, it had been dismantled and disappeared (look for it among the piles of looted remains from the nonagenarian of Balsicas)."

JOTAJOTAVA DOS

"A fantastic place that undoubtedly deserves much more active appreciation. It's an architectural space that needs to be restored and become an active, accessible space for society. The auxiliary buildings are in ruins and could be restored for mixed uses: tourist accommodation, space for courses, etc., just look at what options have been made in similar locations. The complex remains in an inexplicable limbo, with a spacious natural enclosure that must be protected. It would be a great opportunity to show that La Manga is more than just blocks and beach. Along with the nearby salt flats, it's one of the most surprising and unknown spaces. A great opportunity to value heritage and unique places."
