What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Castillo de la Concepción for its spectacular panoramic views of Cartagena and its harbor. The presence of peacocks and ducks in the park adds a charming, unique element to the visit. While the historical exhibits are appreciated, some note that the castle itself is relatively small and the elevator can have queues.
"Spectacular views of Cartagena and nice museum. If you are not doing a guided tour, highly recommend purchasing the 4, 5 or all inclusive pass/voucher that will get you into multiple or all attractions, as it makes it less complicated to visit the major attractions. The Cartagena multi passes are found on the Puerto de Culturas website. With the multi attraction/voucher pass, the Roman Theater and Museum only come together, and count as 2 attractions. I thought that by purchasing the online multi-pass we wouldn't have to wait in line at all, but we did have to wait in line at the elevator going up to the castle. Tour guides also get to jump in front of everyone standing in line to go up the elevator. I think we ended up waiting in line for the elevator about 15 minutes. I would have preferred to just walk up to the castle, but we were trying to save energy for everything that we wanted to see. We were able to visit Conception Castle, Roman Forum and its museum, and the Roman Theater and its museum in time to get back to the ship with time to spare."

"A great experience, you can stroll up the steps, which is a beautiful walk or take the lift. There are some magnificent views of cartagena city and while we were there, there was a De Vinci exhibition, and peacocks roam around freely."

"We managed to get in after 5pm for free. There are exhibitions to see and panoramic views of the city. It is located on a hill with a gentler ramp for wheelchairs. There is also a paid lift, but I did not use it. I recommend the castle, especially since there is a beautiful park with peacocks around it."
