Reviews Summary

Casa Cervantes in Cartagena is lauded for its stunning and historically significant Modernist facade, a masterpiece by Víctor Beltrí. While the interior is now a bank, the exterior's architectural details are a major draw. In Guatemala, it's celebrated as a vibrant community hub offering unique shops, delicious pizzas, and a welcoming atmosphere.

"Casa Cervantes is a building site with hording - very nice hording - in front. Nothing there any more."

Paul Hazelden

"One of the most beautiful early 20th-century Modernist facades in Cartagena. Nothing remains of the interior (it's a bank), but it's worth stopping to observe the details of the facade and the grand entrance. Interestingly, the Café España used to be located on the ground floor of the building, whose specialty included suspiros (sweets made from egg white, sugar, and almonds). While Maestro Álvarez Alonso was in the city, he composed a score he named "Suspiros de España," inspired by the café's sweets."

Juan Carlos

"Opened in 1900. Modernist. The facade is original, the rest is not, or not as much."

Antone Vazquez
