While parking can be a minor inconvenience and the terrain involves many steps, the overall experience is highly recommended for its historical richness and affordability.
"Parking is a bit difficult and took us a while to find a space but it wasn't far to walk to the castle. The ticket office is up the steps on the left hand side and entry is €5. We spent over an hour in the castle and the museum inside and it was an excellent experience. There is a good history of the area with armour and weapons of the period plus a model of the castle as it was. The areas are well marked and safe to walk around, no crumbling walls or steps. The staircase and ceiling in the keep is particularly worth a visit."

"Had a wonderful visit to this castle. €8 for my auntie and I. Excellent staff members who spoke good English. All the information boards were in Spanish and English. Good little museum/ information centre in the castle. Be aware lots of steps. Lots of uneven ground. Great views from all the different levels. The keep of the castle has one of the tallest spiral staircases with no centre column “Caracole de Mallorca “."

"A pleasant surprise and a recommendation for children and families. A must-see with very well-equipped facilities where the little ones can enjoy a trip back in time to the Middle Ages in our region and learn about the history and significance of this medieval town and its various benefactors. The tour includes free audio guides that can be listened to on your mobile phone throughout the tour, in Spanish and English. The tour allows you to reach the top of the castle's keep, with stunning views of the entire area.
With the castle ticket, you can then visit the museum of the Battle of Almansa of 1707, which was key to the War of the Spanish Succession between the Bourbons and the Habsburgs, for one euro more. The town is also very pretty and has a very good selection of bars, tapas, and restaurants, affordable for the whole family.
In short, a recommended visit to enjoy a walk through medieval history through a castle integrated into the rock, at the highest point in the region."
