"If you're in Yeosu, the Yeosu Hamel Exhibition Hall is definitely worth a visit! This museum tells the story of the Dutch navigator Hamel, who was captured and brought to Korea in the 17th century, where he lived for 13 years. The exhibition not only covers Hamel's life but also details how he, along with other Dutch captives, was captured and how he influenced Korean culture and history.
The museum also features information on the Dutch's arrival in Taiwan (then Formosa), which deepened my understanding of East Asian exchange at that time. The historical materials on the early Dutch contact with Korea and Taiwan in the exhibition shed light on this relatively unknown period and highlight the intertwining and collision of cultures from around the world at that time.
The museum's presentation is very vivid. In addition to the extensive text, there are also many audiovisual materials and interactive exhibits, making this history more accessible and engaging. The overall design is simple and modern, and the interior is spacious and bright, making it very comfortable to visit. It is a very quiet and contemplative place, allowing me to concentrate on the stories behind each exhibit.
Overall, the Yeosu Hamel Exhibition Hall is a highly educational museum that not only tells Hamel's story but also explores the early cultural exchanges between Korea, the Netherlands, and Taiwan. If you're visiting Yeosu, this is a must-see for a more comprehensive understanding of East Asian history."

Although I am a poor person, I am a student of private life. Hamel Exhibition Hall: Unfortunately, the commentator was away due to unforeseen circumstances, so I wasn't able to hear the commentary, but it was a place with plenty of explanations. I was surprised and impressed that while explaining Hamel, the history of various regions such as Joseon and Europe was also explained. Although it is not large in scale and does not have many exhibits, I think it is a truly packed exhibition hall. I highly recommend visiting it while visiting Hamel Lighthouse!"
