What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Siloam Sauna offers a potent and invigorating hot bath and sauna experience, with visitors noting the intense heat as a highlight. However, the communal 'jimjilbang' areas may be closed, limiting the full experience to 'sauna only' for some. Limited English signage requires some pre-visit preparation.
"It’s pretty basic and gritty but nice 39,40,42, and even 44d pools. Cold plunge a delight. The water jets have excellent pressure. The sauna rooms are a tad too hot even for this sauna pro."

"This sauna can not represent Seoul. Seoul is too much more developed than this sauna. I travelled one and half hour to visit this sauna. I entered around 20.45. The accommodation was fine. The cleaner was rude. At 21.15 o'clock he started moving aggressively being sorry that he couldn't go home early. At 21.30 o'clock he shouted to go and get a bath. I stood outside at 21.40 o'clock. People come to the sauna to relax, not to get shouted at. Service oriented places have to be kind to customers. It's not customers' responsibility to guarantee him to be able to leave early. If you come early then there will be no problem I guess. Everything is old but it functions. If you are near this place I could recommend it, but not if you have to travel more than half an hour. A regular sauna with a pool will be the same experience and maybe better."

"I visited Siloam Sauna back in Jan 2020 when it was open near seoul station. I was delighted to see that this location was indeed open, after seeing that the Seoul station location was closed. Facilities are good, but there’s no ‘jimjilbang’, due to the pandemic. The lady at the desk told me it was ‘sauna only’, but they still had the baths open (well in the men’s section, they did). There’s not a lot of English signage inside, just FYI, so you might want to read up on sauna etiquette beforehand."

Navigating the Siloam Sauna Experience
It's crucial for first-time visitors to be aware of Korean sauna etiquette. This includes thoroughly washing before entering any baths or saunas, and understanding that nudity is standard in the gender-segregated bathing areas. While some English signage may be present, it's limited, making prior research into customs highly beneficial for a smooth and respectful visit.
For those seeking a full 'jimjilbang' experience with communal spaces, it's essential to confirm current operational status. However, even with limited 'jimjilbang' access, the potent heat of the saunas and baths at Siloam Sauna provides a unique opportunity to relax, detoxify, and immerse oneself in a significant aspect of Korean culture.
Understanding 'Jimjilbang' vs. 'Sauna Only'
In contrast, a 'sauna only' experience, as reported by some visitors to Siloam Sauna, focuses primarily on the bathing and heat therapy aspects. This means access to the gender-segregated hot pools and various types of saunas (e.g., salt, jade, charcoal rooms), but without the extensive communal lounges and amenities. This can still be a deeply relaxing and therapeutic visit, but it might not offer the full social and recreational experience that a comprehensive 'jimjilbang' provides. Always check the specific services available at the time of your visit.
