Mind the Mines: Stay on Marked Trails

Jangsan Mountain has a history of active mines. Always stick to well-established hiking paths and heed any warning signs. Heavy rainfall can sometimes dislodge debris, so it's best to avoid hiking after prolonged wet periods. Reddit

Summit Views vs. Observation Deck

While the summit offers panoramic views, it's a military area with fences. For the best unobstructed vistas of Busan and Haeundae, head to the south-side observation deck instead. Reddit

Not hard to see why Jangsan Mountain( 장산) the most popular hike in Busan 😍The best trail is the Jangsan Summit, which brings you to the peak of the mountain (634 metres). ⏱️ The total hike should take approximately 4 hours to complete, it’s 10 - 12 km loop Difficulty: It’s pretty steep from the waterfall to Jungbong Observatory but isn’t too strenuous. The terrain is a mix of large rocks and dir...

Reviews Summary

Jangsan Mountain is praised for its spectacular panoramic views of Busan, especially from the south observation deck, and its accessible hiking trails. Visitors appreciate the blend of nature and cityscapes, with some noting the presence of a Buddhist temple and exercise stations. However, some find trails can be confusing, and the summit itself is restricted due to military use.

"Haeundae in Busan offers many lovely walking trails that blend mountains and the sea. However, on a nice day, climbing a higher mountain like Jangsan rewards you with a spectacular panoramic view of Busan. Just a tip: once you reach the very top of Jangsan, you'll find it's a military area, so there are utility poles and fences that can obstruct the scenery. Instead of the summit, I recommend heading to the observation deck on the south side to fully appreciate the breathtaking vista."

"Jangsan Mountain offers an incredible hiking experience right in the heart of Busan. The trails are well-marked and cater to various skill levels, making it accessible for everyone. The panoramic views from the summit are breathtaking, showcasing the beauty of Busan’s coastline and cityscape. Along the way, we noticed a physical park equipped with exercise stations where people can work out as they climb up the mountain. I love these free exercise areas—they allow you to keep active throughout the hike. We also saw a Buddhist temple on the hike up, which was cool to stop by and added to the cultural experience. The blend of natural scenery with historical elements, like the old military bunkers, adds a unique touch. The hike was invigorating, and the serenity at the top made it all worthwhile. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Busan!"

"Easy climb but also easy to get lost, or feel that you're lost since some of the trails aren't well-marked. I've gone here thrice and one is a solo climb which I was able to do in less than three hours from the trailhead. I suggest to allot more time so you can enjoy the view up there since this is a great place to see Busan skyline. It's really a beautiful up there. If you're not into mountain climbing then there's a temple and exercise areas just before the ascend."
