What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Namhansanseong Fortress for its stunning natural beauty and historical significance, offering a refreshing escape from Seoul. Many enjoy walking the ancient walls and soaking in the panoramic views. Some find the journey a bit time-consuming, and certain areas can be crowded during peak times.
"This is a highlight point of a beautiful walk. It took us about 1.5 hours to do the loop but we walked slow and took lots of pictures. The history is tremendous, with many signs explaining the significance. The walk has quite a lot of shade, which is nice, but make sure to bring some water on a hot day."
Rob MacDonald
"Various walking trails. Careful during the higher hikes since the ground is a little uneven. Bring water with you since there are a lot of stairs in some sections."
Laurel Baum
"A nice place to get away from hustle Seoul
We had a nice hiking day there, starting from Machon station. After 30 minutes of hiking, we reached the West gate of the wall. This wall was built in 17th century. However, the original one was built since Silla time. The Namhansanseong is more well preserved compared to Hanyangseong in centre of Seoul. We walked from the west gate to the south gate of the Wall. It now served as the historical places but also a park and hiking spot for everyone. Coming there, you can enjoy fresh air , emerging yourself to nice and cool atmosphere or finding a nice spot under the wood enjoying your lunch and relaxing."
