Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Eungbongsan's stunning panoramic views of Seoul, especially the vibrant forsythia blooms in spring and the dazzling city lights at night. It's praised as an easily accessible and free urban escape, perfect for a short hike and memorable photos. Some note the numerous stairs can be tiring, and it can get crowded during peak bloom.

"I visited this place a long time ago (about 7 years ago), but I didn’t remember it until I arrived here again. I really like the view of the Hangang River from this spot. There weren’t many people when I came last Saturday, which made it even more enjoyable. They also have a fountain where you can get drinking water.

I wanted to stay longer to see the night view, but since it’s summer, it would have taken too long for it to get dark, so we decided to leave.

To get here, I think the fastest way is to get off at Eungbong Station. We got off at Singeumho Station, and it took us around 30 minutes to walk. But from Eungbong, it’s only about a 15-minute walk. But at the top, there are signs pointing toward Euongbong Station, but once you get down, there’s no direction at all—I had to use a map to find my way which was a bit complicated."

"Because it is a small mountain right next to the Han River, the view of the Han River and the surrounding background from here is very good. Because it is located in the central area of Seoul, you can see Gangnam, Yongsan and Jamsil."

이윤성

"A little hill that sits right along the Han River, surrounded by old hillside neighborhood. Like many other mountains in Seoul, it's superbly maintained, well lit, well accessed by public transportation. The lovely, quite unusually close view of Eastern Seoul is very much worth checking out, especially at night."

The Eungbongsan Forsythia Festival

Eungbongsan is most famous for its spectacular Forsythia Festival, which typically takes place in late March to early April. During this time, the mountain's slopes are covered in a vibrant blanket of bright yellow forsythia flowers, creating a breathtaking natural spectacle. This seasonal event draws many visitors eager to witness the stunning floral display against the backdrop of the urban Seoul landscape. It's a prime example of how nature can transform an urban environment into a picturesque escape. Instagram+1

While the forsythia is the main draw in spring, the park offers pleasant walking trails throughout the year. The accessibility of Eungbongsan, being a small mountain, makes it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to enjoy a relatively easy hike and soak in the seasonal beauty. The contrast between the delicate flowers and the bustling city is a unique visual experience. Instagram

To make the most of your visit during the festival, aim for weekdays or early mornings to avoid the largest crowds. The sheer volume of flowers can be overwhelming, and capturing photos without many people in the background can be challenging during peak times. Instagram

Panoramic Views from the Summit

The summit of Eungbongsan, though modest in height, offers surprisingly expansive and rewarding views of Seoul. The Octagonal Pavilion at the top serves as a perfect vantage point to take in the sprawling cityscape. From here, you can see the iconic Han River winding its way through the city, the distant silhouette of Namsan Tower, and the dynamic urban sprawl stretching out in all directions. InstagramReddit+1

One of the most captivating aspects of Eungbongsan's view is its nighttime panorama. As dusk settles, the city transforms into a dazzling spectacle of lights. The streams of traffic on the roads below create mesmerizing light trails, and the illuminated bridges over the Han River add to the magical ambiance. This makes Eungbongsan a favored spot for photographers and anyone looking for a romantic or awe-inspiring evening experience. Reddit+2

While the climb involves numerous stairs, it's a relatively short ascent, making these stunning views accessible to most visitors. The combination of natural beauty (especially during spring) and urban vistas makes Eungbongsan a unique destination that offers a different perspective on Seoul. Instagram

An Accessible Urban Escape

Eungbongsan is celebrated for its accessibility as an urban sanctuary. Unlike larger, more challenging mountains, Eungbongsan is a small hill, making it an ideal spot for a quick nature break without requiring a significant time commitment or strenuous effort. The climb is characterized by numerous stairs, but it's a manageable ascent for most people, typically taking only about 15-30 minutes to reach the summit. Instagram+1

This ease of access makes it a popular choice for locals looking for a brief escape from city life, as well as for tourists who want to experience a bit of Seoul's natural beauty without dedicating an entire day. It's a place where you can easily incorporate a short hike and stunning views into a busy itinerary, perhaps before or after visiting nearby attractions like Seoul Forest. Reddit

Its proximity to public transportation, particularly Oksu Station, further enhances its accessibility. This means you can easily reach Eungbongsan from various parts of Seoul, making it a convenient option for a spontaneous outing or a planned visit to catch the seasonal blooms or enjoy the city lights.
