What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Satara Rest Camp is highly praised for its exceptional wildlife viewing, particularly lions, and its excellent on-site restaurant, the Cattle Baron. Visitors appreciate the friendly staff and the camp's cleanliness, though some older chalets may show signs of wear. The location is considered ideal for experiencing the heart of Kruger.
"Overall, I liked my experience at Satara rest camp. The rooms are older but still clean and in decent shape. While you may not get to see a lot of wildlife here in comparison to Skukuza and Lower Sabine, I would say the service here is way better than Skukuza camp where I feel like you’re treated more as a number than a person since they have so many people go through that camp. We did the sunset and sunrise drive and saw some wildlife but no big cats unfortunately. We actually saw the big cats in Skukuza surprisingly. Regardless, it was still a decent stay."

"Inside Kruger, we stopped at this camp for lunch with plenty of free parking at front.
At the back of the low set building is an undercover dining area with lots of seating. There is table service food & drinks & the menu is extensive - seafood, steaks, pizza, pasta, burgers, salad & small snacks. Prices were fair.
A bit of a wait for food but it was busy. Food quite tasty & fair plate sizes.
There is a butchery, coffee van, & large supermarket/gift shop/souvenirs."

"Rooms outdated and not maintained. Not serviced properly. Windows and curtains broken and no attention to detail. Bedding and towels paper thin and old. Aircon falling apart. Top of the fridge filthy. No bin in the room. Shower dirty. Front door couldnt close properly. Visiting Kruger e ery year - first time eve that the grass was not mode in between the huts. Staff at restaurant friendly."
