What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Old Fort Durban is a historically significant site with potential, though reviews frequently mention a need for better maintenance and upkeep of its gardens and buildings. Visitors appreciate the historical value and the efforts of the curators, but note that the site could be a major tourist attraction if better cared for. Despite these concerns, it's still considered a gem worth visiting for its historical insights.
"15 Years Ago the OLD FORT was where my husband and I got married. We haven't been back for a number years however I remember how beautiful and intimate it was. The Rev. And everyone else that was there was so patient and accommodating. If the Grass is overgrown and the upkeep of this historical landmark is unsavory then MAYBE the community should step in. I'm definitely going to visit soonest and see what the condition is. Old Fort might need a well deserved makeover and maybe we can assist. LET'S DO SOMETHING GUYS ..."

"Gardens are over grown and need attention and upkeep. Phoned before and they said the museum is open from 9am but arrived and was closed . However Gerrie did open at just after 10am and was very accommodating and we had an enjoyable time ."

"Beautiful lush garden. Needs attention. Glass display of Regiment falling apart. Garden refuse piling up on front left of entrance. Repair and maintenance lacking. Overall, it's worth a visit for the actual history of location."
