What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate Tokai Forest for its beautiful trees and excellent mountain biking trails, offering a peaceful escape and challenging rides. However, some areas show signs of neglect and damage from fires, with a derelict restaurant and unkempt sections detracting from the overall experience. Baboons are also a notable concern for visitors.
"I love trees so I go here to breathe in and out, and view the trees, hug them and appreciate their grandeur and history. BUT something is feeling very tired about the Tokai Arboretum. The deserted restaurant so derelict, trees lying broken and cut, weeds, things just feeling unkempt. The little thatched pagoda one walks through needs help too. So Sad!"

"Peaceful. Mountain bike heaven. Nice hikes, but watch out for the cyclists on the contour paths. Keep all food hidden from baboons, they are arrogant and can be dangerous.
Some upkeep of entrance road old cafeteria can be improved on...."
Alex Labuschagne
"Amazing cycling routes including the route to the Tokai Mast. About 1000m elevation gain over 11km and great trails on the way down.🔥"
