"I knew about Šumik, but up until now I never visited it. I cannot believe something so beautiful was so near where I live. The surrounding forest is ancient and a protected natural habitat and is absolutely beautiful, serene and full of fresh air.
The path to the Šumik waterfalls (big one and small one) is not for the faint of heart, especially in winter, because the path goes from a medium level forest path to full on climbing down rock faces, so please be prepared if you decide to go. It's well worth it, the pictures speak for themselves, just be careful."
DarkKitarist
"It is also beautiful in the winter but it took us 4+ hours of snow wading back and forth from Osankarinca (road is not maintained from that point). The cliffs could be even more dangerous as you can't see what's under the snow. I would not recommend for anyone to repeat what we did."

Navigating the Challenging Terrain
Footwear is paramount. Travelers consistently emphasize the need for sturdy hiking boots, warning against the use of sneakers due to the slippery and uneven surfaces. This terrain makes the hike unsuitable for individuals with significant mobility issues, the elderly, or very young children. Planning your visit with these physical demands in mind will ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience.
Winter visits present a significantly higher level of difficulty and danger. Snow can obscure the path, and icy cliffs pose a serious risk. While the frozen waterfalls can be a unique sight, it's an experience best left to seasoned adventurers with appropriate gear and knowledge, or avoided altogether in favor of safer seasons.
