The surrounding area offers convenient amenities and charming spots like the Mill Drive.
"The building has been through a lot. No one has treated it as they should. The developer has recently prepared a semi-finished product and is looking for a conscious owner/owners. It could be a beautiful place, but the interior still needs a lot of work. Let's hope so."

"The Mill Bastion in Košice stands on the line of the city fortifications created in the 15th century. The bastion, i.e. the protruding fortress as part of the fortifications, probably began to be built in 1566. The role of the bastion was to protect the entrance to the city from the north. Its walls were more than 2 meters thick and in the 18th century they were further reinforced with an earthen embankment from the inside. It protected the then Upper Gate. This building served the soldiers for over 200 years. Between 1802 and 1836, the first Košice stoneware factory was located here. In the city plan from 1807 it is marked as "Kőnigliche privilegierte Stein-gut Fabrique am Műhl bastion." At that time, the name Mill Bastion was already mentioned. It probably got its name from the mill that previously stood on the other side of the Mill Drive opposite the bastion. Since 1841, the building has housed the tannery of the Wirnkler brothers, who produced leather products here. At the end of the 19th century, the building and the area were purchased by the doctor Jozef Wojnarovits and had it rebuilt into a residential complex. The city plan from 1912 lists it as Mária udvar, or Marian Court (the name was derived from the first name of the owner's wife). After 1945, i.e. after World War II, the city temporarily set up studios here for two prominent Košice painters, Elemír Halász-Hradil and Július Bukovinský. Later, antisocial families moved into the building, which completely destroyed the building. In 1984, the reconstruction of the Mill Bastion began. According to the plans, the building was to house conservationists. The reconstruction dragged on for many years for various reasons, until in August 1992, the almost completed building burned down. Better times finally arrived in 2016, when the area was transformed into a modern residential complex with apartments, civic amenities, and, most importantly, the preservation of the historic building."

"A beautiful place with a rich history from Košice. There are many options for eating in the area. There is a kebab shop nearby, a Coop Jednota food store. You can easily walk to the city center. There are several public transport stops nearby, which will take you everywhere in Košice. I recommend visiting the nearby pyrotechnics Marianka. Great prices and always open."

A Journey Through Time: The History of Mlynská Bastion
However, its history is also marked by periods of neglect and destruction. After being rebuilt into a residential complex named 'Mária udvar' (Marian Court) in the late 19th century, it later housed 'antisocial families' which led to severe deterioration. A reconstruction effort in 1984 was tragically halted when the nearly completed building burned down in 1992. Fortunately, a significant transformation occurred in 2016, turning the area into a modern residential complex that carefully preserves the historic building's essence.
Today, the Mlynská Bastion stands as a unique example of adaptive reuse, where contemporary living spaces are integrated within and around a structure that has witnessed centuries of change. This blend of old and new is what makes it a fascinating place to observe.
